Mike Pratt Retiring

Such a bunch of comedians.

In all seriousness I do believe that it's a good thing when management has ops experience, like Mike.

Bigger picture: I didn't come all this way to take a job that is busy as hell when there is skiing to be done!

Sometimes the president goes out and they make em Chairmen of The Board.
ORDA could still use his wisdom & knowledge of the places.
He ain’t no Bobby Katz neither.

A friend bought the struggling Salmon Hills nordic ski center in Tug Hill almost 20 years ago. He asked me if I would manage it for him. I had friends slavering at the idea. I was like, you don't understand. Someone has to groom, sell passes, do maintenance and stuff. Not to mention the fact that I would have been an absentee parent.

What gives you the idea that I am qualified for such a position?

I used to watch the Zamboni at RPI, but I never drove it in real life.
How was Mr. Pratt "qualified"? How is any political appointee "qualified"?

IDK... prolly has something to do with starting at the bottom driving a Zamboni at the Olympics. Then working his way up and managing Gore for 20-odd years. I don't know him, but he seems like a big picture thinker. No one using the tubing hill at Gore? Turn it into a FIS homologated nordic ski track. He saved NY high school skiing one year with that.

My friends thought I'd be skiing 50 km every day if I ran Salmon Hills. Steve at Prospect Mt gets in 40 minutes in the dark before the place opens.
