The only negative is there is not a whole lot of places to eat at in Grand Gorge

For 1 night, wouldn't have been an issue. Isn't there a pizza place next door?

But turns out that for that weekend, a 2-night stay is required. So I'm back to thinking about staying in Cooperstown or Oneonta.

Baseball hall fame is awesome but I think it far from Roxbury NY where best hill in Catskills is???????

Not taking time for other sightseeing around Cooperstown this time. It's about the same drive time from the Best Western there as from Oneonta. Keep in mind that I've driving well over 600 miles from my house to get to Roxbury. An extra 40 miles to stay somewhere I've been before doesn't really make a difference.

BW is offering enough deals and bonus points that I stick with them whenever possible. Have been staying at BW for decades. It's become a major international chain in recent years.

In the winter, probably wouldn't have as much trouble getting a room closer to Plattekill. All three places I've checked are not available for just Friday night, Oct. 22.

Skiing passion is one thing but ya must really like to snip brush, just sayin .

Pruning bushes is a favorite task in my own yard. Mostly azaleas. Have some woods too. But futzing around in the woods solo isn't as fun.

Fall colors are another draw. They are better up in NY and New England in some ways than in the NC/VA mountains. Should be good all along the drive going north on I-81.

What I like is meeting people in person who are also ski nuts. I'm also going to Big SNOW this trip.
