Maybe a little off topic but I was up a week ago to check out foliage and the only place open for dinner in north creek was becks. Becks is fine but that means no where to eat Monday-Thursday. Barking spider will be an option when tge cook recovers. This is a sad situation in my opinion

IMO, you're completely on topic. What you've described is happening all thru the ADK. From school's to biz. It's tough making a living up there.
Things truly need to change.

I've been coming to North Creek since the late 80s. This is the lowest tide I've seen, certainly for places to eat.

I've been going to that area my entire life and you're spot on.
Just think if Gore and Barton Mine wasn't there, it would be tumble weeds.
Yet NYS pumps 100's of millions into Placid every year.
