jamesdeluxe, great post. The times I've been to Minnewaska this year, the parking scene was as you described. Outta control. No need to go to the Adirondacks to experience crowds.

Similarly, a couple places in NJ that I'd had to myself for years are now crowded. There's still a couple of stashes that I'm not gonna post about, or share locations, just to have some solitude.

I'll empty the tank of my Lake Minnewaska pix, at least the ones taken with a digital camera. Here are some shots when the mountain laurel was blooming during the summer of 2002. This was the first time I brought my future wife there, which elicited the de rigueur "why have I never heard of this place?" reaction:

This was 3.5 months after I'd broken my femur while skiing in Utah. My first off-road ride following painful rehab, so I was in a celebratory mood here along the Castle Point cliffs.

I used that 1996 Specialized Ground Control as my offroad bike until 2013; it's been my road ride ever since. It weighs 29 pounds but thanks for overestimating my strength.
