I ain’t a judge but was summoned for jury duty starting April 8th.
Called ‘em and asked for a postponement as I’d have to wait till 2144 for the next total eclipse to come around.
She laughed.
Asked her if I was the 1st to ask for a postponement due to the eclipse.
“Yup" was the answer. Got it postponed. So I got that going for me.
Ya can’t postpone an eclipse.
Hopefully they’ll let everybody go outside for a bit if they wanna and it’s not r**ning.

That's too funny

I always do my best to get out of jury duty. Gawd, screw that!

I was called for jury duty in Morris County NJ back in... IDK, early 2000s. It was a trial about a murder in my town. I hadn't heard or read anything about it before then. I figure, serving on a jury and voting are pretty much the only ways most people can participate in democracy, so I was prepared to serve.

Prosecutor and defense attorney each asked prospective jurors question. Prosecutor asks me, what bumper stickers do you have on your car? I go, a Grateful Dead sticker. Immediately he goes, dismissed! Musta thought I would vote to acquit no matter what.

That's great!

All the cases around here are boring. I know the judges, they know me, I go away ASAP!

Last time I got called for jury duty, when they got around to questioning me, the lawyers were concerned enough that they called me out into the hallway to question me, away from the other potential jurors. I was on my way home about a minute later..

C’mon Harv, yer the official judge on here but, my post was actually about the April 8th total eclipse, not one of my typical thread drifts, and ya moved it, making more work for yerself.
I’m innocent.
Carry on.🤠

The lady on the phone was very nice and laughed aloud a couple times.

A lawyer told me to just throw away the jury summons you get in the mail, its not registered mail, no proof you got it. I figured you could only do it once though.
