Hotronics

I have a 12 volt plug in boot heater I use on the way to skiing, mountain /back country, [also keeps the shoes warm for the end of the trip]. I have a Hot Tronics set up that I use occasionally, foot beds that move boot to boot. I like them for the very cold days. Am able to move them easily from lift served to BC boots.

Not sure why I've never had cold feet. I alway assumed tele was the key, tons of toe room, super comfortable and foot exercise built in. But hey, Ed's feet are cold too. So.

My sister has had them for years and loves them. She also uses boot gloves to keep the cold off the top of the boots.

I'm a guy, I love winter but hate being cold. I like my Hotronics and they definitely help. My biggest game changer for my feet was to get heat molded boots and liner to eliminate pressure points. Yet still even when it's very cold my feet are happy.

Installed Hotronics in my orthotic about six years ago and discovered I could buckle my boots a little tighter without cutting off circulation, producing cold feet. A Dremel tool helped rout a shallow channel down the orthotic so the wire could run up the back of the boots. The batteries are best placed on the side of the boot rather than the back, lest a low chairlift knock them off.

Thanks everyone

I don't get cold feet or toes. Probably because I never crank my boots down as tight as possible.

I'm less unhappy with my cheap heated socks as I think I'm learning to live with their limits and my expectations.

I'm now setting them on low before leaving the house, this keeps my feet fairly warm for the drive to the hill, about 20 minutes. I leave them on low and my toes get cold but not to the point of needing to take a break. Now I need to crank them up to medium for a run or two and see how that works. My problem earlier was going to medium and then the balls of my feet would start to hurt so I think the key is limiting the medium setting unless its really cold.

I fairness to the socks one of the days I had a problem was skiing early and then working the greenway carpet where my feet weren't in the cold wind. The socks I have are Ororo, and I think I purchased from Walmart.

I still think if you want to ski when its really cold, Hotronics are a better bet, but if you want a bit of warmth on marginal days (0 F in the morning) these are OK.
