Greek Peak Conditions

Yep, chair 2 was a cluster F today. Management at Greek has lost it. It’s beyond insane. There are rumors all over the place that they opened chair 2 without a checking on backup motor — on a cold day, with a terrain park snowboard event going. A chair nearly a mile long and 60 years old. Greek was lucky there was little wind on a 9 degree day and enough staff were there so it was 1 hour to get all down. Staff is sick of lift evacs broken down groomers, main quad without loading carpet and running slow again, beginner carpet lift down again and again.

I have serious doubts about this place, not about safety, but do really I want to ski and work here when every weekend a lift breaks? Do I really want to be hanging from 4 lifts that are 40 to 60 years old that need overhaul or should I hop on Visions with its 15 minute stops to fix a loading carpet? How about a used alpha lift that derailed its first day and didn’t trigger an emergency stop? And do it 6 hours a day 4 days a week? How about the fact that there still hasn’t been lift evac training for far too many staff!
Ugh. Totally sucks.
As a complete homer I'll give you my take, for whatever that's worth....lol
What we're seeing is the result of years and years of neglect on the ski side of the hill. We're also seeing a dedicated staff that is spread SO thin, which is a result of a $50 million dollar hotel/adventure center that never should've been built. We all questioned how the hell they would find enough people to work and keep it functioning the way it should be. Part of me wishes they would sell the hotel so they could concentrate on what makes Greek Peak the best in CNY. That being great skiing.

Was that the first time 2 ran this year? I haven't ridden it, and don't remember seeing it running. Yeah, pretty boneheaded even running it yesterday, hardly anyone there, all but the top of Castor and Pollux accessable by the quad and 4. Well, off to the hill, we'll see what f'd up shit goes down today.

Yes, it was the first day it was running this year. The Wes line says only 5 lifts today.... Its not going to be on today.

So chair 2 broke last season and again this season because the previous owners spent $50M on Hope Lake Lodge? The new owners owned the resort for 10 years and didn’t pay anywhere near $50M for the ENTIRE resort.

No, it broke because shit just breaks. Look thru the other resorts condition threads and you'll see where shit breaks there too.
Previous owners did nothing on the ski side for years and years. Only reason the hotel got built is because they found someone dumb enough to loan them the money. Had they had any real money the ski side wouldn't have been let go for as long as it was.
So ironic that your talking points are the same as RJs were

I’ve been skiing Greek now 17 years and two thing have been consistent, bad lift’s and bad snow making. It gets tiresome for sure but I keep coming back anyway. Could you imagine if Greek had updated lifts and snow making? The place would be awesome. Not gonna lie all but Visions lift are sketchy and make me nervous but yet I avoid Visions lift at all costs because of the constant stops.

Can you grow up? And how many times must I tell you that I am not RJ. It’s now just getting a little childish with all of the name-calling. I get it. You love Greek Peak.
You're reading comprehension is lacking. I simply pointed out that your talking points mirror that of RJs.
A simple comparison. If you can't take that maybe this isn't the place for you. Juss sayin'

Hey! nothing broke today! Had to wait before heading down Mars as 5 wasn't spinning, and the lift crew was on a ladder looking at something at the bull wheel up top, rode 5 a couple times without incident.

Trail of the day was definitely Odyssey, race training tho, Fields was firm and chunky after blowing on it all day yesterday, Mars was OK, but not nearly as good as Odyssey. I didn't ski Trojan, but heard it was similar to Fields, it was blown in yesterday too
