Gore / North Creek Lodging and Amenities

I've stayed at the Best Western right off the Northway near Lake George.

How many nights are you planning on staying to ski Gore?
Stay 3 nights, skiing 2 days. We will actually be skiing at Killington for 2 days and then 2 days at Gore. Doing a road trip with my son when he is home from college on spring break

I used to stay at the Super 8 if I was by myself and didn’t want to drive the whole way in the morning. As others have said it’s fine and is conveniently located for essentially 6-7 hours of sleep while you’re driving to Gore.

But the North Creek options are much better if you’re there for a couple nights and looking for interesting places to eat and drink (my faves are Bar Vino, Becks, Garnet Hill, and The Place which is a little further away) and be closer to the mountain.

Gore isn't know for its apres ski scene. It's a commuter mountain. Best to stay in Lake George and eat at the log jam every night.
First timers visiting Gore hopefully are aware of the 'commuter mountain' status. A lot of resort vacationers expect ski in ski out lodging. A good many of L George hotels and restaurants are open all week during the Winter. Some of the restaurants are more of a weekend window. But you do have a good selection and well under an hour drive. The youngsters in my family would drive the extra 1/2 hour and stay in Saratoga! Use the same short term rental they rent for the summer track season... at a bargain winter rate! If there ever is one in Saratoga. That said, has there ever been an attempt at a Weekend Food Truck some where along the routes to Gore?

A lot of Gore skiers love Gore, because there is no ski in ski out.

Well, at least one of them does.
Okay not real ski in ski out. But I can imagine there is a demand for Lake George (or Saratoga) chain hotels to run 3 day weekends of skiing that include your room, breakfast, after skiing restaurant, bar with a band, heated pool, and a shuttle that took you and your equipment to and from the mountain! Add to that pre-bought tickets! Rentals prepped and booked at the hotel! Maybe throw in an "at the mountain" guide or ambassador. For some families, skiing is a 'resort type' activity. Pampered treatment like a cruise, certainly not every one's cup of tea. But it does hold Gore back from being a destination resort. At least Whiteface has Lake Placid to sweeten the deal for families after a day on the mountain.

Re Restaurants what about The Place. It’s my favorite in the ‘hood, 5 or 10 min east of Wevertown is my memory. Haven’t been in a couple years.

I'm saying that most probably do want ski-in, ski-out (and high speed everything), but (some of) those of us who love Gore, choose it because of what it is.
