Spot on ,put the $ in a home or investment.Eff the outrageous prices for 3 -5 hrs , patently ridiculousI have 2 girls in their late 20's... We refuse to spend anywhere near those insane numbers...What a f'n waste of money for a 4 hr party... Money better spent as down payment on a house..
Yes in comparison Platt is a down right bargain..
Remember it’s a marriage, the wedding is secondary.
Could be they are hoping for a mostly outdoor wedding. But having the lodge as a backup indoor venue is helpful. My close friend's kid booked Platt for next Oct..It comes with a pair of passes..
From what I heard Platt gets a pretty penny for a wedding.. That lodge is a bit beaten up..
Wife and I got married at one of those "venues down the road near Woodstock". It was cheaper then $100K but that was 5 years ago. Feel free to DM me if you need any advice or recommendations!when you realize people are paying $100K down the road for one night for venues near Woodstock anything Platte charges seems reasonable by comparison.
I've just got to ride the delicate balance of not upsetting the future father-in-law whose been saving for this day since he had a daughter. We are also pretty low key and want a 15 person event and want to be in charge of ever decision, that gets harder when someone else is footing the bill. At the end of the day it's all just money passing hands for different purposes but like so many members of my generation, I can't imagine ever being able to afford a home without the help of family. That said something tells me people dropping $60-80k on a wedding don't have the same concerns about down payments. We refuse to spend anywhere near those insane numbers...What a f'n waste of money for a 4 hr party... Princeton’s nice. The Adirondacks are nicer.I always dreamed of getting married at Garnet Hill Lodge. Instead it was someplace in Princeton.
Go to a Polish Wedding That's exactly what the guests do .I can relate to this. I wouldn't be surprised if others can too.
Our wedding was much bigger than we wanted, but we didn't pay for it. What are you going to do complain?
I always dreamed of getting married at Garnet Hill Lodge. Instead it was someplace in Princeton. Something about not making the old folks, travel far. Legit I suppose. We did have fun.
I would love it if friends would set up contributions to their downpayment for a wedding gift instead of some stupid blender.
You pay for your kids wedding because you don't want that burden to land on the couple. This could be a way that friends give a valuable gift, helping them get that headstart.
We still have our silverware, but all the glasses were broken long ago!
