Free Season Pass with Wedding

Do it for the passes! JK. Getting married is fun and scary and one of the best things in life. Remember it’s a marriage, the wedding is secondary.

I have 2 girls in their late 20's... We refuse to spend anywhere near those insane numbers...What a f'n waste of money for a 4 hr party... Money better spent as down payment on a house..
Yes in comparison Platt is a down right bargain..
Spot on ,put the $ in a home or investment.Eff the outrageous prices for 3 -5 hrs , patently ridiculous

My close friend's kid booked Platt for next Oct..It comes with a pair of passes..
From what I heard Platt gets a pretty penny for a wedding.. That lodge is a bit beaten up..
Could be they are hoping for a mostly outdoor wedding. But having the lodge as a backup indoor venue is helpful.

My husband's nephew's wedding was at a family farm in the Bershires that was turned into an event venue. Wife used to plan weddings in NYC. Husband inherited the farm. Wedding was over Labor Day weekend. Had to be booked a year in advance. After the first couple years, the price went up quite a bit once the reputation was established so nephew was glad to have gotten in early on. It was turn-key. Included wedding photos taken at various places around the farm the earlier in the day of the wedding.

My wedding 30+ years ago was at my husband's house. Big house but when it had to be indoors because the weather didn't cooperate, was a tight squeeze for 100 people. Perhaps 20 came from out-of-state. Total bill was probably under $10K.

when you realize people are paying $100K down the road for one night for venues near Woodstock anything Platte charges seems reasonable by comparison.
Wife and I got married at one of those "venues down the road near Woodstock". It was cheaper then $100K but that was 5 years ago. Feel free to DM me if you need any advice or recommendations!

I've just got to ride the delicate balance of not upsetting the future father-in-law whose been saving for this day since he had a daughter. We are also pretty low key and want a 15 person event and want to be in charge of ever decision, that gets harder when someone else is footing the bill. At the end of the day it's all just money passing hands for different purposes but like so many members of my generation, I can't imagine ever being able to afford a home without the help of family. That said something tells me people dropping $60-80k on a wedding don't have the same concerns about down payments.

I can relate to this. I wouldn't be surprised if others can too.

Our wedding was much bigger than we wanted, but we didn't pay for it. What are you going to do complain?

I always dreamed of getting married at Garnet Hill Lodge. Instead it was someplace in Princeton. Something about not making the old folks, travel far. Legit I suppose. We did have fun.

I would love it if friends would set up contributions to their downpayment for a wedding gift instead of some stupid blender.

You pay for your kids wedding because you don't want that burden to land on the couple. This could be a way that friends give a valuable gift, helping them get that headstart.

We still have our silverware, but all the glasses were broken long ago!

Princeton’s nice. The Adirondacks are nicer.
A friend got married on the top of McCauley.
Reception was at the Big Moose Inn.
Twas this time of year and the weather was great.
We watched the Aurora Borealis later on over 4th lake in Inlet the night of the wedding..
Played inlet Golf Club the day before the wedding.
A good time was had by all.

Go to a Polish Wedding That's exactly what the guests do .

We had money pinned all over our wedding dress and tux just from dancing with guests at the evening reception

THEN the gifts are put into a large box full of cash .We came out with a sum equal to what I made in a year...no bs and what a party

It Started after the Wedding Mass with a brunch with open bar for ALL out of town guests followed by an afternoon of cocktail party at my new in laws home for family

THEN at night a huge blowout reception at a venue .

I had never been to a POLISH wedding so I was flabbergasted 😜.We had a substantial downpayment for a home
