Went to fishing seminars taught by Captain Tony Buffa at Bass Pro Shop in Auburn in the wintertime. One day after salmon class he said there wouldn’t be class next week as he was playing in The Salt City Chess Tournament. I knew he was a college math prof. I was a math major in college and also liked to fish & play chess. Saw him in the store after the salmon class and I asked him, “Tony, what does chess, math & fishing have in common?”. He replied immediately, “It’s all problem solving.” Made sense.
God Bless Tony Buffa.
Buffa, 83, legendary Lake Ontario and Oneida Lake charter captain, died on June 13, 2025.
