Twas an amazing sky last night over Greek Peak

Unfortunately, it's really bad in the NC mountains after Hurricane Helene went through. There are places that got 20+ inches of rain in just a few days, with 10+ inches in less than 12 hours. Not just flooding. Landslides all over the place. Many, many roads are washed out. I-40 and I-26 are closed in more than one section in and around Asheville.

I know the area well because my daughter went to college at UNC Asheville. We were planning on stopping by in late October on the way to Chicago. Have a feeling I may be taking another route.

Tampa FL has dodged a direct hit from a hurricane for 100 years. Hurricane Milton is the first storm that has my mom and stepdad seriously considering leaving Tampa and FL. Ugh.

Indeed, I did. Shoulda been more specific. For the storm, they boarded up their house and they're gonna ride it out at a motel somewhere inland. Not good enough.
