EPIC rules for 2020/2021

Or platte
I can’t be bothered with hunter this year

Man I wish I was skiing right now. Smuggs would do nicely

I'm getting there. First I need to get through deer season, it's getting close, real close. First "work day" is slated for 2 weeks from tomorrow. Come mid December I'll be ready for my skis. Those with a motor and those without ✌

This Hunter local loves hearing this...
This works out quite well for the locals that ski and have a pass...

I just don't see how they can blow a lot of snow this season...I imagine they will be very cognizant of the weather, ie : only blow when there isn't a rain threat , say in 2 days..

We'll see. VR isn't Peak Resorts.

What I know is that nothing was different in Australia for Perisher when it comes to snowmaking (June-Aug). Perisher is the largest ski resort in Australia and VR bought it several years ago. Think Camelback or Stowe in terms of resort lodging, with a little more vertical than the Catskills, and multiple peaks that are barely connected like Sunday River. Winter weather conditions are comparable to the northeast. Freezing rain happens every season.

When Thredbo had a major water line break for their snowmaking system with a few weeks to go in "mid-season", there were portable fan guns moved from Perisher to Thredbo. Thredbo is an independent resort and on Ikon.

Hoping that the buzz I hear about them hammering to get the whole mountain open to keep crowds separated is true.

Hope your right..
I wonder how they are going to deal with all the bus tours from the city?

For sure, VR learned in Australia that early season is very tough because relatively little terrain could be open. Presumably that's one reason there won't be able day tickets sold before Dec. 8. Perhaps also the reason that the Mid-Atlantic and midwest locations are scheduled to open somewhat later than usual. The three locations near Chicago, Detroit, and Minn/St. Paul aren't even trying to be open for Thanksgiving weekend.

Not sure if this will be the policy at Hunter, but Vail Inc. employees and "dependents" will be exempt from the reservation system. Interesting.
