Does Marketing BS Bother You?

Golf clubs... Every new model allegedly hits the ball farther and more accurately. Lol it's the Indian not the arrow.
The way I understand it, the could make clubs and balls drive 400 yards, but it would make billions of dollars in golf courses obsolete.

True there are distance limits, specs on spring effect etc. Which makes the marketing hype all the more shallow.

Nah, they can plant more trees & bushes, firm and quicken the greens and let the grass grow in the rough to toughen up courses when they want to. It’s not how far, it’s how many.

As far as marketing the “elite” sport of golf, the big garbage company has been sponsoring the planet's largest attended sporting event.
Going on now, The Waste Management Open.

Horrible experience

I think that's how parents feel now when they're dealing with colleges.
No doubt if you saw my earlier posting I freely admitted that my profession is wrought with this kind of nonsense over hyped, over built excessive facilities that add damn little. Value but drive cost., And long-term bonded indebtedness.

Those of you that know me well understand that's one of the primary reasons I chose to retire fairly Young and operate my own business..

that business had been a parallel operation for decades which now became a primary .

Or you can use the Robin Williams approach to golf course design

"We'll put trees n ' s*** in the way and then up there by that calm little flat spot we'll put a little flag to give ya fuckin hope.
,but then we'll put a beach and you'll be jerking around with a fucked up tire iron till you have a stroke" hey we'll call it a stroke.

Late to the party

Late to the party on this... but I find it amazing that in current times, when social media and email allows for quick communications, that ski centers can churn out, uh, enhanced conditions reports and get away with it.

I won't go back to a place that burned me once.

One of the side effects of having been in wholesale sales, I have a reasonably well tuned BS detector. @Brownski may have the same.
I am still banned/blocked from the West Mountain Instagram Account for commenting that conditions were "dangerously icy" (and they were) when they posted a picture of a powder day (taken prior to the rain/freeze event) calling conditions "epic".
