Detachable vs Fixed Grip Lifts

The Aussies are experiencing a new detachable 6-pack with conveyor loading at Perisher. It's a base lift that replaced a triple and a parallel double. Took two off-seasons to complete the preparations, construction, and installation. Vail Resorts bought Perisher in 2015. Perisher is a large resort with 3000 acres scattered across multiple peaks. Still quite a few T-bars operating along with an assortment of chairlifts.

2023-25 Updates on Perisher website

Still early season in Australia. The new lift opened on June 27, 2025. Had a decent number of people waiting patiently for the chance to ride up on the first morning as of 9:30am.

Stuart has been researching lifts from a business standpoint. Haven't read past the free section yet, but wanted to make a note now. A key point is that the supply of used fixed grip lifts built decades ago is dwindling. That means even getting parts to keep an old lift going is getting more difficult.
