Connectivity in the Mountains

As long as we're talking about cable service, I looked at the power poles when I was walking around my neighborhood this week. The trees were all trimmed back from the power lines, but the lower branches were leaning on the cable and phone lines, which are lower on the same poles. I know Verizon has given up on maintaining reliable phone service, but I was surprised that Spectrum was neglecting cable facilities as well. I hope that means they are planning fiber optic soon.

Are you sure the Yankees are still on Sling? They pulled YES off Youtube TV and I think all the other streaming services. The YES app requires you to have a cable subscription with YES included. and even then I don't think it streams games outside your cable area.

i am still on spectrum for a little while longer. fortunately the yankees suck so not watching being able to watch them is a definite option

MM, my original post was about SLIC becoming the new cable provider in Johnsburg. Harv was excited about that. I related my story about them jacking the rates for basic cable and cancelling our cable there. We live in Queensbury where we have Spectrum for cable and internet.

The new NY budget has $ for a broadband map. Ya just gotta ask yer kids where to plug the thing into the back of the map when the map comes out, allegedly.
"Broadband – $1 million for the Comprehensive Broadband Connectivity Act approved in the budget, which tasks the Public Service Commission with creating a map of the availability, affordability, and reliability of broadband internet service in New York State, using federal stimulus funds."
