I moved out to the desert. Way out there! I might ski two or three days this next winter but it will be to ski with my kiddo up in Colorado. I’ve basically retired from doing winter. My body hates the cold now.I want to get out there mid winter one of these years.
Flagstaff is such a cool place but I can understand how it can get old. I remember you talking about Taos but I guess your plans changed.I moved out to the desert. Way out there! Snowbowl is a fine little mountain but go ski elsewhere. Get to someplace like silverton the day the sun pops after a big ole dump and get a couple laps on their helicopter. Treat yourself and go big!
Flagstaff is an awesome place but unfortunately the word is out and we weren’t ever going to be able to buy a house there.Flagstaff is such a cool place but I can understand how it can get old. I remember you talking about Taos but I guess your plans changed.
My only helicopter excursion was in 1985 in Calgary area,so it’s been a while but what a blast! Of my old gang there’s only a few of us who are still hardcore skiers .
I love Williams! Bill Williams Mountain is a really cool place to explore. We went on a 12 day Utah/Arizona trip in June. Spent 3 nights in Williams, Az. Used it as a base for the Canyon, Sedona and the Flagstaff area. Cool little town with an old school vibe. No crowds, great local people.
Arizona’s Snowbowl is now using their gondola for twilight dang 5 course meals. Only $650 for a cabin of 4.Flagstaff is an awesome place but unfortunately the word is out and we weren’t ever going to be able to buy a house there.
Snowbowl has become too busy for me. At this point, on most powder days I was only getting 2-6 runs in before leaving. I really don’t like standing in lines. My time is too valuable for that. Sedona was the go to spot for hiking and mountain biking in the winter and that place has become a zoo as well. So basically living there lost its value for us. It’s hard to sell yourself on a place that you are struggling to stay afloat in especially when all of the perks have lost their luster.
