Big SNOW Conditions and TRs

Sure. They’re run by the same people that run Mountain Creek so tI assume they’re mostly the same patrollers

Put in two hours today. I invited the boys but Junior thought it would be too crowded since it’s Saturday and Dangerboy said the place makes him sad and angry at the same time. It really is terrible.

Something was off today. It’s always a little sticky but today it was really sticky. Does anybody make a special wax for 28 degrees and 75% humidity?

How did that get there?

@Brownski was there a lot of moisture in the snow? You might try a fluorinated glide wax, they repel moisture pretty well.

Yes, that’s exactly the problem. It’s a big refrigerator

I'd definitely go with fluorinated glide waxes in that case. Webcyclery is discounting Solda glide waxes due to the FIS's ban, which might actually go into effect this winter. I used Solda almost exclusively for a long time. They're really good and have a wide temperature range.

I thought for sure I posted this earlier today, but now I don't see it so I'll try again.

I made my first visit to Big Snow yesterday, which also marked my first day skiing in July and my first time skiing in New Jersey.

The experience exceeded my expectations. I was most worried about how the snow would be on a day when it was almost 95 degrees and very humid outside. There was a very light haze inside, but the snow conditions were good. I'd call the conditions sort of a loose/frozen granular. Even with no treatment on any of our skis, which had all been sitting in garages since April, the snow wasn't sticky at all. There were a couple spots where it looks like condensation drips down making some small icy patches.

The run from the top was a bit shorter than I expected, and the top was a bit steeper than I expected. It wasn't crowded, so we could at least get in a few faster runs. My favorite part was skiing down with quick turns under the platter lift. It was taking 2-3 minutes up, 1.5-2 minutes down. The Ski Tracks app called it Day 49 of 2022-23, not Day 1 of 2023-24, so I'll go with that. The app couldn't pick up a location inside so I don't have an accurate run count, but I am guessing about 25.

We all really enjoyed the visit, and I could see myself going once a summer if I'm in the area with a few hours and $50 to spare.

This April, I waited on Eli Manning in the wine shop. Very nice, self effacing, regular guy. Some uber entitled customers could take a cue from him.
Spending time in Oxford at Ole Miss will do that to ya if ya let it.
Hotty Toddy.
