Yes, along with the permed mullet. The three judged aspects were style, artistic display and technical execution. Costumes were a part of it just like ice skating / dancing.
The forces generated were so great that bindings were cranked all the way. Some competitors skipped having bindings altogether and screwed their boots to their skis.
