Belleayre Conditions

I can’t imagine how crowded the lower lodge will be this season
They will be lucky if they finish overlook for next season

It looks like a hot mess. There is a history of the shed roof design for ski lodges, even in the Catskills, as this photo in Skiing the Catskill Region by George V. Quinn shows. The lodge at Roxbury Ski Center was orientated to capture the winter sun’s rays and was complete with a fireplace. Now we have two east-west facing sheds smashed together with propane fire bowls outside. Good grief.

IT looks like they designed that thing to minimize natural light, but you always need to compromised something when you remodel a building. OTOH those outdoor fireplace/carbon monoxide generators are an enforced error. ORDA must think it's exempt from the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act.

Technically the photo was taken from the lower slopes of Bearpen and the shoulder of Roundtop is in the background. But yeah, that general area. Stories of too much snow to open and skiing until May.
