Bar up or down?

I’m a bar down guy, primarily to give the dogs a respite, if there’s a foot rest. Even without said foot rest, I always go bar down. Why wouldn’t you? Out west I know many don’t, but I’m usually riding with a pack out west and it’s easier to control on your lap with the bar down!

I have a pair too. You think the bar up/down debate is internet catnip? Post a pic of those and see how many people say they’re gonna break your thumbs.

I hear that BS all the time, the irony is I broke my thumb ACL after going to a different type, a style that had a “cap” on top.

Been back using the old ones since. The current ones don’t trap my thumb as it easily slides out. Two of my long time group still use them. When you break a pole just find more at a tent sale and move the grips. Mine are pretty ratty I wish Scott would bring them back.

There’s no reason not to put the bar down. Leaving it up is a dopey western bro culture flex. I always check with my seatmates and am careful not to hit someone or pinch their snow pants but you should be ready for it to come down anyway. It’s pretty hard to imagine getting hit hard enough to be knocked unconscious or concussed so I wouldn’t worry too much about that
God damn right. The college kid crowd at Snowbowl is really annoying. I guess it’s probably awkward for newbie snowboarders to pull down the footrest but they shouldn’t be calling the shots! 😂

Those dang boarders...
Give em a couple rope tows & some features to hit and a lot of em will be tickled. They don’t need no dang footrests nor safety bars.

Arm over the back and other one goes around the post and sit on the poles
Skied at Copper quite a few times the first two weeks of this month. The American Flyer chair (detachable 6 with bubble) has no way to put your arm around the back and the seat has a sort of forward lean. It's long and bounces in the middle. Not a fun ride with the bar up.............

I usually say "from the east" which can explain things to an extent. I found no resistance if I wanted to put the bar down, but I'm sure I got talked about later.

At Snowbowl that last pole before unloading on the chair/ gondola I think I remember you said was like 90’?
I kept the bar down till the last second 😁 kinda scary at first.

I don’t doubt I ever put a hand thru ski pole strap.
Just grab and go.

My only use of poles is for scooching to get on a lift and/or on the flats.

A double quick click-em-together just before getting off the lift gets ya started with a bit of rhythm to boot.
