I know my buddy wasn't happy as his niece didn't get to run, so maybe it was that. But he's had a few WC starts in his day so I do believe he knows what he's talking about.

For sure --- the racer I wanted to watch was wearing #57. Most likely she wouldn't have qualified for the second run, but you never know. Stranger things have happened.

Definitely. True for xc as well as alpine, although there aren't many individual start races in World Cup xc these days.
