Any Day, Any Race

I think I cursed her. I was just thinking about her boyfriend and how she's never really been hurt (to my knowledge) and was hoping she could escape it.

I wonder if her guy's crash got in her head.

Fuçk the down hill Mikaela, bag it.

I'm not sure how she got there, but it looks like Shifrin had a bad line in the corner where she crashed. Hoping she's OK.

Tough on the dang drones too.
It was windy for the 2nd downhill in 2 days.

1. It's got to get into the heads of athletes waiting in the start house when so many crash.

2. Looks like many of them crashed at the same corner that got Shifrin?

Kinda like in golf when folks hit it in the water especially if it’s windy.
Don’t wanna think of hittin it in the H2O & try to focus on the target...
but then the kerplunk comes. The little wind swirling backside par 3 at Augusta is good example for the best pro golfers.
In golf it’s “just” a penalty, a stroke & a lost golf ball.
In skiing it’s a DNF with possible career ending damage to body parts.

Just watched that vid again, third time. Right before the hard left with evergreen trees on the outside of the corner, many skiers get airborne and their balance is thrown off. That bit where they get air, I'd bet any money that that should be graded. Or something. But don't listen to me, I ski cross country.

It is not Goggia’s first serious injury: the 31-year-old skier has torn her ACL several times in both knees, fractured her tibial plateau more than once, fractured the fibular malleolus, suffered a compound radius fracture of the left arm, fracturered her fibula, and last season famously fractured her hand during a race, however, still finished the Downhill in second place, and then returned the next day with a freshly operated hand to win the second Downhill race at St. Moritz, Switzerland.

Says she will be back but after this many injuries I wonder if it's really worth it. She is one tough cookie though.

That Cortina crash compilation that @tirolski put up, with the jump that got so many skiers outta balance. It's almost like they deliberately designed it that way, and reaped the consequences. The way some people watch NASCAR for the crashes.

Coupled with fast tracks, shadows, wind gusts, bumps & lack of new snow.

At least with NASCAR drivers have protective shrouds.
