ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

I like the “Full Send” version. Hahah. $4,000 is on par with quality mid-drives. I personally don’t like all of the tech though. I’d rather have the tried and true old school bike components that can be easily sourced and worked on. Also if the battery dies or something else happens with the...

The Lost Squadron Greenland Recovery Expedition

There were a few southern guys on the expedition but I don’t recall their names. Not sure if I ever met Jim. My dad might have known him, he was the facilities engineer for Poughkeepsie. I think he mostly worked with Angelo and Remo Pizzagali. We were invited to their “cabin” in Vermont after...

Instead of a weight box, I use a rear PTO cone spreader and fill it with tube sand. I leave it in the bags until I’m done plowing and then kick it out if needed. I store them inside and dry. If you use wet sand it will freeze in your spreader, especially if left overnight.

Kubota has good financing and you can include the implements if you get them up front. If you get them later you are on your own.

This is the way if you can swing it Harv. They are stand-ons and are very quick with a good operator but yeah, that was my recommendation before I saw those piles and how much square footage you’re dealing with. Moving the piles is easy. Spreading them correctly is what’s time consuming...

Those piles are pretty big Harv. Maybe get that machine for a week. If I lived closer I’d come over and give you some free beer advice.

Technically the photo was taken from the lower slopes of Bearpen and the shoulder of Roundtop is in the background. But yeah, that general area. Stories of too much snow to open and skiing until May.

It depends on how much material you’re getting, how big of an area you’re covering and what your timeframe is.

Not sure what quantities these loads are. I would mix the sand in with the topsoil as a top dressing. Ideally topsoil is either covered by a tarp in a pile or spread and covered with seed and chopped straw or mulch. You might not get germination now but dormant seeding is better than nothing...

    Building a House with Wood

Yes, but I prefer and recommend getting a stand-on. They have better visibility (especially going backwards) and aren’t as tippy. Much easier to hop on and off to move something or rake something out (this is huge if you’re working by yourself) They are much smaller so you can get into tighter...

It looks like a hot mess. There is a history of the shed roof design for ski lodges, even in the Catskills, as this photo in Skiing the Catskill Region by George V. Quinn shows. The lodge at Roxbury Ski Center was orientated to capture the winter sun’s rays and was complete with a fireplace. Now...
