ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

I rode in a BYD in Mexico, but it was definitely a cheapo taxi model. Reminded me of one of those purpose built Nissan Taxis in the city, but all electric

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

I read this article as well. I don't think they factored in off peak charging rates which would decrease the cost of home charging further, and they definitely didn't include the cost of accumulated maintenance on an ICE car. That being said driving a Hummer EV will probably cost you a lot...

    Yes You Need Snow Tires

My admittedly limited understanding is that the Blizzaks are great if you are always driving on snow and ice, but there are other more well rounded winter tire options. Remounting tires twice a year seems like a nightmare IMHO. Just swapping the wheels is enough of a PITA.

    Yes You Need Snow Tires

We drove both my Alltrack with winter tires and my Y with whatever the stock all seasons they come with up to the Cats last winter, and I could absolutely tell the difference, especially in braking. That being said the Y does weigh 1000 pounds more which gives it more inertia, but also more...

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

If I had lived in a rural-ish area of upstate NY when I bought my Alltrack 7 years ago I would have considered the manual. But living in Brooklyn and now dense NJ, it just seems like more of a pain then it's worth. The manual ones command a decent resale value though.

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

I've never driven them, but on paper the Equinox and Blazer are the first US EVs that actually hold up on a true apples to apples comparison with the Model Y. No FSD though. I love 1 pedal driving. Once you get used to it it's hard going back.

    So it begins

I'm going with a PointGuard string inverter. I think the industry is moving away from micros. Many points of failure that all involve someone getting up on the roof, and you are tied to a specific generation of software and hardware. Imagine having to source something running on Windows 95...

    Summer Weather 2025

Central Jerze and south should be getting some significant rain but not lookin good anywhere north. Seems to be a reversal of last fall's drought.

I don't know the specifics of the case, but if the resort fails to follow standard safety procedures, or is lax in upkeep and maintenance they should be eligible to be sued. If I ski into a tree however that's on me - Though I can see how there are shades of grey of opening trails that...

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

A new Bigger Model Y just launched in China that may or may not come to us: The extra space and third row would be great for me but the lower ground clearance could be an issue.

Thanks for the intel! "Advanced terrain" is fine for me and my aching body these days 😆 One thing I like about Colorado is they now require car rentals to have snows on them in the winter. I'm gonna guess that won't be the case in Boise. I rented an Outback in Calgary once and tires were...

Thanks! Didn't realize Soldier had cat skiing, that definitely makes it more interesting, (though not included in Indy I'm assuming) Which would you say had the most advanced terrain between the 3? Yeah I'm not sure if I can still do an add-on. I bought the pass when they did the super early...

It's all pretty similar just depends on how often we get a place in the Cats, vs day trips to Shawnee. I really don't like the management at Shawnee, but it is close

    Season Passes

Rant: The 30% off partner programs that the independent but non indy mountains offer are useless as they only work for walkups. You can't reserve in advance (risk of getting sold out), and you often get that discount by booking ahead anyway. Just don't even bother Rant Over. Trying to decide...
