    Most Underrated Ski Towns

Franconia/Sugar Hill/Bethlehem/Littleton area of NH is pretty sweet. North of the notch and the Loon/Waterville crowds. Obviously Cannon, but also Bretton Woods, Burke, easy shot to Jay. Access to not just FNSP/Lafayette Ridge but also Presidentials. Incredible views all around, good food and...

    Ski Jumping

Like a lot of good things, it’s all due to a small collection of coaches and committed volunteers. Lots of loaner gear (the only required piece of equipment the skier has to provide at our school is their helmet). The school has a bunch of spongy neoprene jumpsuits from the 1980s. The boots...

    Ski Jumping

I think I’ve probably discussed this here before, but NH is the only state that still has public high school varsity ski jumping. There are only 6 or 7 remaining programs competing these days. Most of the schools train at private/club facilities…..like Proctor Academy or the Ford Sayre ski...

The overland craze is out of control

Camper, we live in a consumer society and as such we judge and are judged by our consumer choices (or lack of them in the case of telemarkers on 75mm gear in 2023).

Pickle Ball is the New Snowboarding

I’ve played. As with most things, it’s largely about the company you keep. I just found the parallel of skiers threatened by snowboarding’s explosive growth from 94-99 to be an apt comparison.

Skiers: If You Could Move Anywhere... ?

    Ski Bowl 3.0 at Gore

That was my line from a bit before I became a forum contributor, although it has been stolen a few times. I skied Tannery Out a whole bunch as a patroller. It wasn’t terrible, but I guess I was getting paid to do it, not paying to do it.

    Skiology... What's your take?

As a purveyor of memes, it would be hard to start asking for peoples mailing addresses and tacking papers to actual, physical bulletin boards, stapling memes to telephone poles etc.

    Skiology... What's your take?

Maybe as the snow melts this season, some of you should just casually unfollow skiology and then see if you notice or care at all next December.

    Ski Bowl 3.0 at Gore

People will complain about the $275 lift ticket at Deer Valley, but if you play your cards right and ski with reckless abandon you might hit the jackpot. Gotta be in it to win it, as they say.
