Ski Tracking Apps and Stats

I use a Garmin Fenix 6 Pro in addition to using "We Ski and Snowboard" app on my Pixel. The Garmin obviously provides superior heath and exercise stats, but the mapping and run by run detail of the Garmin isn't enough if you like maps and run data like I do.
A golfing friend gave me his Garmin Fenix watch (still have it but would have to look up find it, maybe a 3). Worked great for distances and was EZ to use for what I was using it for.

WARNING: Don’t let a magnet get stuck to it.
Saw the magnetic ball marker, folks hook to their hats, was stuck on the back of it one time. Thing never worked again. Ugh.
 
I use sports tracker..free. runs off gps, doesn't drain battery. can pay 20/yr for upgraded version. The free is plenty for me. it Can track many sports photo of runs i skied I chose what data to put in photo. #runs top speed vertical.

I use Slopes which uploads ski activities to Strava, my main "fitness app," since I do a lot of cycling as well.

I used to track my skiing on Strava but it counts all of the ski lift rides as elevation gain, implying that you made some effort in getting up the hill.

The one thing I do find annoying is that often my "max speed" on Slopes is different when it uploads to Strava, usually showing up as slower than Slopes recorded it as.

Another oddity is that, for anyone who knows Catamount, if you take the Catamount Quad (short one that takes you to the Race Slope aka Toni Matt, or On Stage), Slopes does not record a run or the associated vertical if I go left off the chair onto the Race Slope. But, when the activity uploads to Strava, the run and vertical are there.

I've transferred my history data to Slopes, which gives me a free year of premium. Looks like they're being smart about trying to capture those of us fleeing from Ski Tracks.

Slopes has "lifetime" stats that I don't remember seeing anywhere in Ski Tracks. Since March 2015 when I started with Ski Tracks, it's showing me with 1.9 million feet of vertical across 345 days (266 at Royal) and 4449 runs. Ski Tracks always counted things like the Royal carpet lift and practice slope chair as runs, as well as things like going from the lodge down to the main lifts, which really aren't runs,. My manual tracking shows more like 3000 for "real" runs in these last 10 years. I know these numbers don't come close to touching those from many people on this forum, but I think they're not too bad.

Update...Strava just emailed me to say that the app will no longer track chair time in the activity report for Alpine Skiing.

So, I thought great, now I will just use Strava directly, and not use Slopes anymore, which is what I did at Catamount yesterday.

But one thing I liked about Slopes is that it displayed some information on the home screen, specifically vertical, without having to open my phone. It would be right there at a glance. Since I like to get at least 10k of vertical on a ski day, it was super convenient to just peek at my phone to see where I was with that stat, versus having to open my phone to look at Strava. Also, when I actually do open the Slopes app, I can see much more information, like max speed, as well as many other data points. When I open Strava, all I can see is number of runs and vertical. The rest of the info all has to wait until I wrap up the day and hit "finish."

So, back to Slopes I go....
