Who's on the DL?

It's definitely not the boots. After looking at the xray I'm surprised it doesn't hurt more.

Look I shouldn't have posted last night. I was emotional.

It's time to man up. Look what RA did. He fucking re-invented himself.

I have to imagine a new future. I love nordic skiing so much, and maybe that is coming to an end. If it isn't obvious I also love story telling. I've got to find something to write about that I love.

Harv, if I may (and perhaps it helps I am coming off a broken shoulder), please:

(i) be kind to yourself and let yourself have these emotions - frankly it would be somewhat abnormal if you did not (whatever normal is anyway).

(ii) don't borrow too much emotional pain from the future (as is also probably normal, you may be thinking about worst case right now); you might be thinking beyond the practical worst case.

(iii) take a minute to think about all the awesome things you have in your life, wife, daughter, winter and summer wonderland (and yes, it is fine to be ticked off about the tough stuff);

(iv) google and apply to yourself the mental exercise of premeditatio malorum. Worse case thinking can actually help!

(v) if you can, keep in mind there are lots of easy, low cost (energy/recovery/dollars) options, too. I am a pretty rational dude, and don't believe in voodoo or anything like that, but very clean eating reduces inflammation which I would expect at least can't make things worse for you. Check out the talking with docs youtube channel - they focus on normal life habits that can help with things like bone density, reducing inflammation, how inflammation is tied to many health conditions and how reducing can help healthspan.

(vi) know you have a ton of ppl pulling for you.

There’s an old sayng, when one door closes another opens.

Lots of folks are “handicapped” in many different ways.
Hope ya can be the best version of ya.

When my eyeballs heal I’ll have some new cool UV blocking shades for the bluebirds days.

This - hydration, nutrition movement, supplements, alternative medicine help my pain and ailments.
Could be psychosomatic but does it matter but that’s what voodoo is lol

My first knee replacement will be 19 January. Second one, some time in spring. I'm a be outta commission for a while. The timing is good: I'll be able to report on the National Championships in January and the World Cup finals in March.

Getting physical therapy now in advance of surgery. Because I couldn't run most of the summer, I've lost a lot of fitness, which I've noticed the days I've gone skiing. That's OK, but I've noticed that I've got a bit of a phobia on downhills. No bueno.

Lots of the folks I golf with have had stuff replaced, repaired and/or rehabbed. Good luck Pete.
Some come back better than before.
Shiffrin the G ⛷️OAT has made a fine comeback recently..

Harv , rub some Voltaren on it and take a advil and Tylenol together...Pain sucks
Sometime ya go live with the pain...

Here's my issue...started having neuropathy in my feet about 10 yrs ago...it has progressed to where it's causing a slight limp...Neurologist did a nerve conductivity test, for those who have had this. you will understand...This test was developed by the CIA in conjunction with the Nazis and KGB...You haven't lived until you have needles inserted in your muscles and then have electric current pass through them..Anyway the issue is pretty bad but it is a least staying bellow my knees... So I doubled down on my time in the gym and stretching...Luckily still able to ski great and bike

Sorry Harvey but.... BUCK UP PRIVATE , it's not the end of the world. I've been skiing with chronic back pain for years not to mention arthritis in pelvic area. I went to get the herniated disk fixed this summer and ended up getting open heart surgery instead. My back is still screwed but I still plan to get my 30+ days in this season.
Hell I got 10 days in the year I went through chemotherapy with an anal fisher from hell... gotta tell you sitting on a chairlift was painful. Point is if you love doing something do it. Yeah you may have to go about it differently but you adapt. My pain disappears after my first turn replaced with a smile. I wish not to offend but offer my own feelings on your situation.
Don't stop doing what you love.
