Gore Mountain Conditions

First day out today. Was pretty good considering it's November. Good coverage. Little icy in spots but very manageable. Crowds on Showcase got to be a bit much later in the morning with park rats zooming through everyone. North side was better.

Lots of snowmaking going on which I'm very pleased to see after last years awful start. That plus the coverage being much much better. Hopefully that continues with all the cold weather this week.

NWS just raised the forecast for Gore from 2-4 to 3-5.

First fresh skiable snow for me this year, felt good.

In years past, the website always said where they were headed next. You'd think Sunway would be at the top of the list.

Any insight @Cork?
I find it amusing that the Gore marketing department does not even make an attempt to say what trails are to open and where snow is being made...Obviously the members of that department attended the ORDA meeting titled "Shhh, don't tell anybody, it's a secret!" ;) 🤷‍♂️ :ROFLMAO:

I feel like at some point (8 years ago) it was accurate. Belleayre, which I am a fan of, has gotten terrible with the trail report. They list things as groomed when it could have been groomed a week ago before a thaw/freeze. I don't really count that as groomed. And Belle used to be very accurate, now it feels like the conditions report has become the marketing department. Just say that it is fast and firm if it is - we are east coast skiers anyway. Just wanna know what to expect! Rant over.

I follow both Gore and Whiteface Reports...
Am I the only one here who favors the Snow Reports from Gore ?
Why, because they get them out early!
Whiteface is usually not out until the morning of...
I have to decide between a 1 hour or 2 hour drive...
So knowing the day before is a huge plus for me.
BUT even an easy to please guy like me does have a complaint or two...
I ski easy terrain... I am old. So I like to see what the coverage is.
Gore's base camera does not reach the Bear Cub Quad.... bummer.
Whiteface's Bear Den Lodge camera is not even online yet this year.
"Being repaired" was the response I got???
$25 on Amazon would get you a new one....

I totally view Gore trail reports as "wish lists" after being "Gored" many a year. They post early sure but very often nothing in the report is accurate. Many times they'll say stuff will open that doesn't. Stuff that isn't even mentioned will open. You go to know with Gore. Period

Looks like they heard ya.
The report up now for tomorrow has ❄️ icons on the trails to indicate where the worker bees are blowing❄️.
The report indicates the bowl has some trails getting some.

This🔝!!
Gore is famous for promising and not delivering, and the coordination between marketing and ski patrol is non-existant on most days...
