Bristol Conditions

Bristol 3.20.2025.png

Saw this photo online yesterday before the rain

Bristol did groom last night and is looking in decent shape for the weekend
Pond Skim is Sunday @ 1:30!

Main open trails from South to North:
Morning Star, Shooting Star, The Loop, Infinity, Sunset, Challenger, Comet, Meteor, and Galaxy

Main closed trail from South to North:
Milky Way, Nova, Southern Cross, Outer Orbit, Universe, North Star

Get out there while we still can!

That looks solid.

Does Sunday look like closing day?

Not bad today considering what the past few days have been. Groomed and crunchy early on then slowly softened up with sugar snow. Still open: U/L Rocket, Comet, U/L Meteor, U/L Galaxy, Sunset, The Loop, Morning Star, Shooting Star and connectors. If it stays reasonable cold, they should make it to the end of March at least. I heard closing during next week, then I heard they will be open weekdays next week. Guess we'll find out!

Spectacular bluebird spring Sunday at Bristol. Sun makes all the difference.

Got on the mountain around 930am. Firm and noisy snow early but carvable. As the morning went on it softened up and the snow got quiet and the carving was even better.

Finished up around 1pm and watched the slush cup pond skimming from the deck with Apres beer. Was glad to see a nice crowd for the spring carnival.

Bet you're glad you didn't give away your ticket! :) My wife and I skied with the two older granddaughters and had a great time. We got there about the same time and no problem parking close. Crowds weren't bad with very small lift lines. Yes, firm early, but softened up to nice spring mashed potatoes by early afternoon. As Andy said a beautiful spring skiing day. We watched a bunch of the pond skim and wrapped it up soon afterwards.

Talked to Dan Fuller and he confirmed they will be open through at least next Sunday. Probably just the Comet chair will be in operation. Decently low nightime temps should mean they shouldn't loose too many more trails. Better end that it seemed like it would be given the 70+F weather last week.

Darn right that I'm glad I didn't give that last ticket away! Sunday was one of the best ski days I'd had at Bristol in years.

It really was all about the sun. As my buddies and I were chatting afterwards we said if not for the sun our opinion of the day would have been much lower.

While I'm quite critical of Bristol management decisions and aren't happy with them, I'm very happy for them that mother nature cooperated and brought people out for a great spring carnival in Sunday. Especially since mother nature was brutal on Saturday.

Now my question is, what do I do for next year? Split 12 passes with my friend at a ridiculous 16% price increase? We're both on the fence and potentially looking for another friend to split with so we get 4 each. We both have been challenged to use all 6. As I've aged I've found myself quite selective about the kind of days I'll ski locally at Bristol.

Off to Banff next week for a week of skiing at Sunshine and Lake Louise! Hoping for sun like we had yesterday!

Buy the Indy Pass when it goes back in sale. Get two days each at Swain, Hunt Hollow and Greek Peak for a fraction of the price (and no half hour lift lines).

Gray skies, but still trails open if thin in many spots. Ran into some regulars, so I had people to ride the chair with and stayed longer than I thought I would. Just the Comet chair open, but U/L Galaxy, U/L Meteor,U/L Rocket, Comet,Challenger to lower Sunset, and the Loop. Very few people-pretty much had the place to ourselves.

Can't remember any half hour lift lines in the recent past. When things get backed up the triple is usually running, so that's an alternative. Yes, Swain and Hunt Hollow (during the week for the public) are alternatives, but neither has the terrain, snowmaking and infrastructure that Bristol has. Greek Peak is a good two hour ride from Rochester-nice once in a while, but not for a regular visit. This is no knock on the Indy Pass-it's a great concept and a good deal if you want to travel, but not really a substitute. Trust me-I've got plenty of little complaints about Bristol (don't get me started!), but I probably have 45+ days this year on a senior pass, so it pays for itself and I'll probably bite the bullet and buy again for next year.

I’m guessing you don’t ski Bristol often. Like Johnny mentioned, they certainly have their quirks. But accessibility to high speed quads, vertical and snowmaking capabilities is unmatched within atleast a 2-3 hr radius. Lines seemed more tedious a few years ago and with the onset of the gateway cards, this year lines seldom seemed to be an issue.
