Gore Mountain Conditions

I asked a ski patroller why it was closed today. He told me that he was under the impression that Burnt Ridge would be closed Monday and Tuesday for the rest of the season.
Standard Operating Procedures at Gore. That chair opens mid-Jan, sometimes part time or for racing only, then operates full time for 5-6 weeks and then goes back to part time beginning of March.

Good stuff.

Good day today. Made a pit stop to break up the drive back from Jay. Skiied about 4 hours. Everything skiied great with nice packed powder. Rumor and Lies were my ROTDs. Nice temps. Sad our incredible streak of conditions are coming to an end but it's incredible in itself we went this long with no big warmups or immature snow.

Hopefully we get one more storm or two but if not, I'll embrace the spring skiing vibe and the Rumor bumpfest to come.

Pretty well sums it up.

I think the Burnt Ridge season is longer than that (maybe not with the bad opening this year). But instead of a rigid weekly schedule, how about some situational awareness? Throw open the whole mountain on Tuesday (Mardi Gras special?) and have one last day of these great winter conditions, then close for the all day soaker on Wednesday, saving the snow AND personnel costs. Other ski areas are closed today because of the rain.
Check the webcam. There are no skiers today, just soaking wet lifties.

"Well, kinda. In good news, we will be open today! Unfortunately, we’re being hit with a fair amount of rain (eek!) and will be limiting our lift operations for today. We will only be running 5 lifts: The Northwoods Gondola, The North Quad, Topridge Triple, Straight Brook Quad, and the Greenway Conveyor. The Nordic Center will also be closed for the day due to the inclement weather. After today, we will reassess conditions and plan to open all four peaks and Ski Bowl Activites as usual."

Yes. I definitely thought of that as I wiping the rain from my googles as whizzed on by Twister's lttle sister today and saw that it was open, and I thought to myself, why would they close it Monday and Tuesday with amazing conditions and open on Wednesday and Thursday...
Answer: He/They do not care. 🤷‍♂️ 🦴 :poop:

You have to take notice of the private ski areas, meaning not State owned/subsidized, always explain their lift operations to the public so as to coincide with the flow of the market, and most importantly, tell the investors (pass holders and pre-sale tix folks) why.... 🤫

Twisted Sister was open on Monday when we skied it to Echo, but then you had to bear right back to the main base - the Gully to Cedars Traverse and Burnt Ridge was roped off. I’m sure it was on Wednesday also.
