Gore Mountain Conditions

Great sunny day with little wind and nice temps in the afternoon. Big crowd, may have been most crowded I've seen Gore this season but still wasn't bad.

Started with a Showcase and Quicksilver lap before Gondi up and uncas over to Straightbrook. Couple nice rumor laps before line got long and went to the dark side for some laps there with short lines. Alternated between runs there and Lies to Straightbrook to try to avoid the line. Headed over to Topridge around 1030ish and it was firing with the sun softening it oh so slightly. Warranted a repeat. Headed back over to the dark side via Fairview for the first time this season and it was good.

Remainder of the morning was spent on dark side and Lies before going back to Topridge for a run on that and the Cave Glades. Then down to BR via Tahawus to finish the afternoon lapping Boreas, Barkeater, and Abenaki. Headed back to the car via Tahawus and then Sunway to Otter Slide glades to close things out.

Another great day. Though no new snow this week woods and ungroomed were still skiing really well and groomed of course was great. Off to WF for tomorrow and Monday

Kleetus , I agree very fun day. Lies, Rumor perfect early. We hit every part of the mountain. Blue skies all day, very hard to call it a day.

Some trails are deep, see pic in the trench.

No selfie today sitting in the Old Red.

Sleepy Sunday at Gore. Lots of racers in Lodge and Echo, quiet everywhere else. About an inch of fresh up top and Rumor was delightful with great grip...
Agree - nice relatively quiet day with gentle snow almost all day. Everything was great- 46er a little icy at the end but great first thing. Favorites were probably Topridge, Sagamore, Rumor. I’m too old for Rumor when it’s whales so I appreciated the groom. Sad to see rain in forecast…

Hate to ask BUT....
Should I head to Whiteface tomorrow rather than brave the NYS High School racing championships?
I was hoping for a nice quiet, uncrowded mountain and lodge. I have never been there for competition days.
In my mind I am picturing a crazy lodge scene plus parking lots full of yellow mini buses.
I stayed away all school vacation week, and had no idea this was scheduled....
