Greek Peak Conditions

We're entering year 5 of a 5 year snowmaking upgrade plan. I'd say we're right on schedule.

Thing’s are definitely looking up this year, by far the best continuing snow making I’ve seen in 20 years and it shows. Never seen as much open this early in the season since I’ve started skiing at Greek so props to them.

Been up there 6 times and never skied bad conditions. Mother Nature has been kind to them so far but I fear a rain or warm spell because imho they don’t put a deep enough base to take a hit.
But very pleased with the improvements for sure.

Was there Saturday after Christmas and Tuesday 12/31. The rain on Sunday and Monday washed the snow off all the non snow making areas for Tuesday skiing. Never the less they had all the lifts open, including Casper from Chair 2 and Mars Hill under Chair 5. All the open trails but Iliad were in great shape, although Elsyian Fields was narrow. The snowmaking improvements are obvious. This week was the first time I can recall both Chairs 5 and 2 were opened so early in the season. I hope I am wrong, but I fear that increasingly warm winters are making Greek dependent on man made snow. And that means that they've got to think what to do with those trails without snow making: the several glades, Electra, Arcadian Gate, the longest trail on the mountain. Covering these with snow would be a big challenge.

I got hit with the Christmas flu, and finally am coming out of it. At least most of my downtime was during the warmup. I took four runs down the bunny slope yesterday, then came home and slept. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by how good things were on the bunny slope after the warmup. GP seems to be solidly in a bunch of LE. I am looking forward to checking it out tomorrow.

Wee doggy was a little blustery but was good skiing this afternoon, definitely a hood over helmet day for me. Stuck to 4&5 never feeling the need to go front side. Crowd was heavy on Mars at times Trojan and Castor the most protected, was fairly light, blowing on Zeus.

I need to be retired. @Harvey. I rolled into the parking lot at 10:15, which was fairly empty.

I got a bit spooked by chair 2 stopping. It was stopped when I got there. The liftie at the bottom said that the guy at the top hadn't stopped it, and that it had just randomly stopped earlier in the day. Getting on may or may not have been a good idea. It stopped again for a good five minutes when I was over the open space near the pond.

However, the lift ran smoothly after that, and Castor was lovely. They were blowing snow in many places and pushing it out on Odyssey, Kristy's, and Trojan.
