Whiteface Conditions

Thank you to those who responded re: Whiteface. Great information to have. Have a great holiday. Depending on weather and roads it looks like a Gore day tomorrow. But I am convinced I need to make the extra hour drive and give Bear Den a try. Maybe one of the trips when my daughter and 11 year old grandson are with me. As a fifth grader he has one of the ISkiNY passports than gives him 2 free days at a number of NYS mountains... including Gore and WhiteFace!

Post up some sweet advanced beginner at WF content! You be a hero at HQ! 🤠

Since it seems all but assured that Lookout is opening tomorrow, Whiteface will have all 3 peaks open earlier than ever. They were able to open Lookout before Gore opened Straightbrook, and before Killington opened Skyeship. Has any other ski area improved snowmaking by that big of a magnitude over just one off-season?

ORDA seems to be making a real effort to improve at Whiteface. They brought a snowmaking manager to WF from Belleayre late last year, and this year they did a walk though program of the snowmaking system for passholders earlier this year. All that seems to be in response to complaints about last year's performance, and it seems to be working.
Maybe it's time to let ORDA know that Gore's performance has become just about the worst in the East.

Totally agreed about Gore. They have performed very poorly so far this season. They allowed delays to the gondola cabin replacement to cripple their snowmaking and terrain expansion elsewhere. They did not adjust their snowmaking plans around it. They just threw up their hands and ran at reduced capacity. They should have tried to open High Peaks or Burnt Ridge early.

FIFY.

Belle has lodge issue & Gore has whatsopen issue.

ORDA’s based in Lake Placid.
I don't think that's it. Whiteface had been screwing the pouch most years when it comes to snowmaking. This year it came together. Gore messed up early and then had a few weeks of marginal temps. Bells snowmaking is on point.. The Lodge well... It is orda.
