Whiteface Conditions

What do you attribute it to Sno? Just taking advantage of the weather or a conscious decision to make snow where it’s less likely to melt?
They have spent a lot of money in erecting all those efficient permanent mounted snow guns and now it's paying off.
(Let's be honest ...I only replied so I could use the word "erect" ....that is all)

Just went to the Falcon Flyer webcam.... I totally misjudged what I thought the crowds would be. Must be everyone stays home for Christmas THEN goes skiing after Christmas? Conditions sure do look nice... and no crowds!
Any suggestions which is really the best route to Whiteface from the Saratoga area. Access road before you get into Lake Placid? Road from Keene? I took the road back to Keene from WFace in the Fall and thought it was a bit windy if there was a surprise snow squall? Is 2 Hours a good estimate of the travel time from Glens Falls / Saratoga? Thanks.

Bang to the right at the intersection in Keene. Follow the signs. I can get to Whiteface from Albany in 2:10 minutes.

I will recheck the Right at Keene route...
I am under an hour to Gore...
1 hour and say 45 minutes might tempt me to give WFace a try.
Mid week of course...
I am a lower mountain skier at Gore so trails off Falcon seem perfect...
Any other tips for a 75 year old first timer at WFace?
The separate lodge and nearby parking are also tempting to me.

Where your depends?? Only kidding. It will look intimidating pulling in but there are a lot of green cruisers

To all you nearly every day skiers.... okay, frequent skiers.
Are the webcams misleading me into thinking Whiteface is LESS busy than Gore?
I know it is COLD, actually very cold. And WFace has the reputation of being cold?
On a regular weekday or even a vacation weekday is WFace really less busy?
I always thought of L Placid & WFace as a true destination winter sport resort area.
Gore to me was much more of a 'commuter' ski area.
The nearly empty Bear Den with its own lodge sure is tempting.
Unfortunately, with family visiting for both of the holidays I suspect I will be house bound for awhile.

I am writing from bears den lodge right now...it's cold and not crowded. There are no perfect responses for the questions you seek. You just gotta aim, shoot and make the best of where ever you go. If you like to ski, you will have a good time at either mountain... both are awesome 😎

I am not an every day skier. But in my experience, outside of holidays and busy weekends when Gore handles crowds better than Whiteface, Whiteface feels less crowded.

The last time I was at Whiteface on a weekday, I felt like there was only ~100 people on the whole mountain.
