Having read 50 or so books on the Vietnam war. It was time to go. Here are some pics from my day in Saigon. It is also smoking hot and humid.

Nice! I hope you have a fun/meaningful trip. I've been to Hanoi. I've never seen anywhere in the world that's as difficult to navigate. If you go to bigger cities like Bangkok or Mumbai, it's crazy of course, but there's an internal logic which an observant traveller can pick up with some effort. That is not true in Viet Nam. There is no logic whatsoever. Almost every single street is one lane. But in that one lane you have buses, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians...going both ways. There doesn't appear to be any such thing as right-of-way. There are no navigable sidewalks, as the shopkeepers take them over. Walking 10 blocks is exhilarating and exhausting. I hope you'll keep us updated!

Haven't been to Viet Nam yet. Been to China twice. Trust me even though I used t5o be a salesman, you'll never complain about heat and humidity after visiting China during summer.
