Belleayre Conditions

I actually think the move to avoid lift-serviced is great. This will be a much lower key, backcountryish oriented trail network.
I think ebikes will open up a lot of opportunity for bike parks like this

However, connections between the top of the mountain and the lodges were not considered due to the desire by ORDA to refrain from developing a comprehensive lift-serviced bike park and the associated management and safety infrastructure required to operate such a service through this plan at this time.

Pulled this right from the trails plan, I actually think the move to avoid lift-serviced is great. This will be a much lower key, backcountryish oriented trail network.
agreed. no lift service needed. nerd-gate 101. the climb to the summit from Lost Clove is very doable on a bike—save the short section above the lean-to. keep the activity traditional and at lower volume/low maintenance. more styled like out west where it’s free under your own power and bikers/hikers share common ground and ascent practices. better grounds to build a solid community. the public transpo is also a nice alternative.

I'd love to hear some more details on what these trails are like? I was up there this summer and rode the XC trails down at the bottom, and I gotta say they were pretty boring and really not worth my time, so this sounds like it could be a pretty exciting project.
Back in like 2001/2012 they actually had a MTB race at the Belle and it seemed like they were going to invest in mountain biking but nothing came of it.

Belle folks made an updates video.
Hope to ski Belle for the first time this winter.
Fit in quite a bit in a 5-minute video. Adding 20 more tower-mounted and automated fan guns is a lot of fire power. Hard to know exactly when it was filmed before release on Sept. 20, 2024. Still a lot of work let on the Discovery Lodge expansion.

Last time I was at Belle was when they had one gondola on the haul rope for testing.

That's mind blowing.
