What is your most positive memory of skiing in NY?

My return-to-ski time at GP, about 15 years ago. I went with my son, in the drizzle at night. It had been probably 20 years since I skied. I started on the sub-bunny slope learning areas, and progressed to some of the greens. I still remember the huge grin I had on my face as we skied in the mist down towards the lift. The next year, I bought skis and a season pass.

My other favorite memory is one of the closing days at GP. It was in the 20s overnight, and a bluebird day. I got 5 really nice runs down Iliad, staying in the shade, and then went home, put on shorts and hung up my hammock for the season.

2. Powder day at Plattekill, Feb 2022
3. First and only tele lesson at Belleayre (using daughter's boots & skis), mid-Dec 2017

First time on skis ~55 years ago.
Went night skiing at Song & bailed out on the first run at the bottom as I didn’t want to dent cars in the parking lot. Learned picking up speed is easy, it’s the turning and stopping is where the skill comes in.

Spring skiing at Gore after a ‘90s Nor’easter.
Gore had about 3 feet of new snow late in the season. Broke a boot buckle on bumps, but after a pit stop repair in the parking lot was back at it. There were bikinis to boot.

Wide Opening Day ~3 feet deep before Thanksgiving Day at Song <10 years ago.

I was just thinking about this- when GP opened before Thanksgiving. :)
