Greek Peak Conditions

A rep.from GP was at the Triple Cities Ski Club in Binghamton last night. GP has gone totally cashless... and have removed the RFID gates - are going back to hand scanners, because of the installation of "A New System".

Not a fan, wonder the reason for this?

CNY’ers… what’s the best ski shop in the Binghamton and/or Cortland area? Junior needs new boots and I feel the need to intervene.

Did they give up on RFID or just changed systems? Many small resorts are not installing RFID gates but instead using hand scanners for RFID lift access. Bridger Bowl went that way from the start. Grand Targhee too. That's relatively new technology for Axess.

Note that the proprietary RFID system that Vail Resorts developed for Epic has always allowed hand scanning. That was helpful when VR took over Peak Resorts since there was no need to install RFID gates for Epic passes. A bit of a learning curve though. I was at Sunapee the first season those scanners were being used and the lifties weren't quite sure how to deal with passes that didn't scan immediately. It was a major Women's demo day and more people hadn't been to Sunapee before.

For the first time in many moons, I drove by GP yesterday on the way back to 81 after what looks like a final visit to my ailing uncle. Odd to see it during off-season -- was there some sort of equipment sale going on in the lodge?
