The bcXCD Thread

My neck of the woods does not get significant snow often. It was just a couple years ago that we only received a dusting of snow the entire season. Therefore, you can imagine how happy I was to wake up on Sunday morning to see ~5-6 inches of dense snow in the yard. I took this opportunity to go on an afternoon ski tour later that day. Temps stayed well below freezing so snow was soft but it was still pretty boney in the woods. A little more coverage would have been nice but amazing conditions considering how south we are. I'm taking none of this for granted!

Epic early BC conditions have been excellent but looks like they are about to take a pretty good hit. Looking at the positive side, should create a nice solid base.

My wife likes the area but of course I can’t hike , walk or whatever without thinking “Can I ski it “

I was looking at Mt Joy and Mt Misery as potentials. You don’t get much snow but on occasion get large dumps.

Have you looked at French Creek SP ? There looks to be some trails on decent vertical.

Me too! I spend a significant part of every hike/trail run in the area just mind-skiing the trails. I wish this area got more snow....

I have not tried skiing in French Creek yet. It's on my radar though. I like that the elevation is a bit higher there compared to Valley Forge. Hopefully another significant-enough snow event will happen this winter. As to how much snow is enough to take the skis out, my bar is low (it has to be to ski in this area)!

I would think French creek would need a decent bit of cover, fairly rocky from what I remember on MTB
