Any Day, Any Race

20 km skiathlon today, Trondheim, NOR. Diggins tangled with a Swedish athlete in the classic portion of the race, losing all momentum. Diggins wins anyway, the 30th win of her career.

So far @tirolski only looking at the first vid. My takeaways: 1. The dang hill is steeper than it looks on TV. 2. Visibility from the athletes' perspective has got to suck. Chapeau to them.

On another note: it looks like ya gotta make time early in the run, or you're toast. Thoughts?

It’s fun to ski when it’s snowing but ski racing when visibility sucks gotta be difficult for everybody.
This early in the season the racers haven’t practiced much under those conditions yet, if at all, is a guess.

Also, how do ya get to be a volunteer to paint the blue visibility lines during the race? There’s also another person coming in behind the blue streak painter that looked like they were clear coating the blue streak. Were they watering it to keep the line intact?

Meanwhile in Utahh USA’s mixed Skimo team qualified for February’s Tirol races with Team USA's first ever mixed relay World Cup win.

Hopefully ORDA gets on pace with this sometime soon.
What’s ORDA waiting for?
Ya don’t even need a lift & it shouldn’t cost much.

This is all well and good. But why are women doing skimo at the Olympics next February, while the IOC has again slammed the door against women nordic combined skiers.

It ain't the numbers, because there's only 36 skimo athletes total in the OWG as far as I can tell.

Who knows. It’s the first Olympic Skimo competitions.

There’s a lot of strange rules for Olympic competitions.
Hopefully no figure skaters get whacked in the knee again.

Those athletes kick ass but man, that course is lame. Why are they messing around doing short laps on the lower slopes? Skimo should go to the TOP of the mountain, first person down wins. I hope they make an interesting course for the Olympics, not that.

The article mentions dual moguls making a debut. That will be wild to watch.
