0. There’s a little bit of gun drift in the woods there to make a dense base and then the storms kick it into play.

Gun drift is definitely a real thing. WF had a couple spots like that where it can be sweet

I admit to be %100 a novice when it comes to the fine art of snow making. However it often looks to me like a large portion of the snow generated blows up and into the tree's between the trails. Is this an accurate observation? Was just viewing the webcam on Bear mountain and viewing snow operations up on cloud. It looks like so much snow is traveling far beyond Cloud and into the trees between Lies and the chair.

Didn’t realize it was actually ever labeled with an X on the map with the key description as “Future lifts and trails”

Many moons ago after a late March blizzard at Hunter, me and my brother hiked over to the x trail from the bend in Annapurna. It was already skied out, but it had steep, steady pitch. It was very enjoyable. They had also opened 44 and it was top to bottom snow bumps and just perfect.

I miss Hunter, but it is not in my thought process right now.

I skied this ten years ago (March 2003) after discovering the traverse from Annapurna and put up photos on my now defunct Pbase.com photo gallery: I called it the "Hunter Mountain Secret Trail." Got flamed in the comments a few times from the Hunter religious about violating the taboo on revealing secret stash. I always thought, well you can see the trail from Route 23A, the main road, so where's the secret? Here it is, like a time capsule.

Another old school favorite

My 3 most favorite east coast ski areas would be MRG, Stowe and Plattekill. It’s a damn shame that Vail owns Stowe.

Well, they used to. The new maps look nice too.

Over the years I've thought that if the east was getting hit real good and I had the extra $ and time that I'd love to do a ski trip out there. I'd try to ski at Plattekill, MRG and Magic in Vt., get a lap on the Thunderbolt in Ma., ski Cannon and maybe Tucks in Nh. and Black Mt and Camden Mt. in Maine. It probably won't ever happen but I wish I could pull it off.

Next season will mark 30 years in Montana. A big eastern trip would be fun , all the ones you mentioned plus Smugglers , Saddleback and a handfull of Quebec hills. I skied Mt Greylock once in 1977.
