Peeked at the base webcam this morning... much more snow being made. Plus they were moving snow into the loading area of the Express. No chairs yet, but there was definitely activity. Will they need to do a load test with chairs before it could be used? Also the heavy duty snow guns by Sunway Chair and Express were blasting away. Local forecast for Friday has really changed a lot in the past two day... % rain keeps dropping. You wonder if that and the much lower overnight temps prompted the increased activity?

Snow is not required to do a load test for a chairlift. As I understand it, not required every season. Certainly not required every time chairs are taken off.

Have you heard of "wet bulb"? For good snowmaking results, need cold temps and reasonably low humidity. When building base, having the snowguns put out denser/wetter snow is okay. That's the stuff that sticks to goggles like glue.

During early season, it's not just a few nights of cold that matters. Also need to have a forecast for the following week or three with cold enough weather that the new snow doesn't simply melt away in a few days.

What’s the deal with the base lodge not accepting cash anymore?

Isn’t that against NY Law?

I guess the bill was passed but the Governor has been sitting on it for 5 months?!?
