NY Prop 1 2025

Where are the mystery 2,500 acres, what is the cost and where is the money coming from? Nobody knows. Once it is decided (maybe it has) or umm, announced, it sounds like we would be bound to it if the vote is yes. What if it’s unreasonable? They could just say we have a mandate from the voters.

Van Ho should have had an exemption to Article XIV the way WF, Gore, and Belle do

I agree with this.

Still. The way to do it would be to change the law and THEN cut the trees.

I googled it. The penalty is $200 per tree. Sort of pointless to levy the fine on taxpayers. Seems like there should be some consequence for breaking the law.

NYS taxpayers would be funding the purchase of the 2500 undisclosed acres if the thingy 🍺 on the back of the ballot passes.
Who buys land without knowing where tis?

Heard there used to be a bridge in Brooklyn folks tried to sell.

This is my biggest complaint. Is it "we'll figure it out", or is it, "we're not saying"

Not for one second do I believe they don't know where the 2500 acres is, or what it's use will be. The entire thing stinks of dirty pool. Unfortunately, NYS Tax Payers quarters are on the table for the next game.

I'm voting yes. Van Ho should have had an exemption to Article XIV the way WF, Gore, and Belle do, a long time ago.

Back in the 2010's I tried to write a story about the Ho's lack of an Article XIV exemption. I can't tell ya how quick people hung up on me or how many emails went unanswered.

@Campgottagopee I get your frustration about the snowmobile trail connector. If you could provide some additional details I'd appreciate it.
Here’s an article that came out the day after Christmas almost 12 years ago with a discussion of the constitution thingy🍺 .

I think 2500 of the Whitney property ... And they were going to do it anyways. NYS buys land fairly regular up in the blue line. Seemed like an olive branch to say they got something out of it.

That's what I keep reading that people are speculating it's the Whitney Estate. If that's true why not say that? The whole thing really stinks.
And, the late owner of the estate was very clear that he didn't want NYS to own any of it's land. Wonder how they'll get around that.
