Whiteface is skiing as well as I’ve ever experienced right now. 34” from the storm and over 4 feet since 3/1. The base is deep, the snow is soft, and there is little ice to be found.

Whiteface is a 4-Hour drive for me each way, but with conditions as good as they are now I was more than willing to make the journey. Skyward (above) was still full of shin-deep powder on the sides, and I was excited to take runs on Cloudspin, which has never been open for my previous visits to the resort.

With all lifts operating, I followed my usual “W” pattern where I take the gondola, then the summit, then Lookout. Wash, rinse, repeat for 5,900 vertical feet every 3 runs. Sugar Valley glades were open from top to bottom and still offered fresh tracks if you were willing to do a little base damage.

I had some serious FOMO today when I saw that I missed first tracks on The Slides by 24 hours, but I’ll try to make it back next weekend if they’re still open. Whiteface really comes alive when they get a lot of snow (or spring conditions). Looking forward to my next visit.
