West Mountain is ready to kick off its 2020-21 season, opening this weekend, Saturday, December 19 for skiing and riding! The mountain has been blowing a lot of snow to prepare for opening, and our staff has been focused on creating new, safe and innovative operations and programs to run this season, including:
  • A new Freestyle Development Program
  • A new Alpine Racing Academy for U12+ athletes
  • Learn to Ski and Snowboard packages for youth and adult first-time beginners
  • Continuation of the programs after school for school children
Additionally, during non-holiday periods, West Mountain will offer popular ticket promotions such as Monday and Tuesday 4-hour ticket specials and breakfast or lunch plus lift ticket specials. For those who don’t ski or ride, West Mountain offers 10 lanes of tubing fun for all ages and abilities.

B-roll and interview opportunities are available this Friday, Dec. 18, as well as opening weekend, Dec. 19 & 20. We'd love to have you visit the mountain! This press account will be monitored daily, so please reach out with any questions or to set up a visit.

We hope to see you this week!

Does West Mountain have an uphill policy? Has anyone seen/ known of anyone to skin it? With a storm like that before opening day it sounds like a solid play if allowed.

West was busy today - basically two routes down from the summit, and half the front face was ungroomed with fun powder left from the 32”. Impressed with how much snowmaking was going this morning - they are taking advantage of temps and building up the base and farming a lot of snow for the future.

They need to get the north chair open to alleviate crowding but there’s only so much they can do as they open up and dig out at same time.

not as much mask policing as Gore. Saw a few patrol and even one liftie without a mask - kind of shocking. I just want them to be safe, stay open and not get on the wrong side of NYS. But if seeing unmasked teens talking to each other loudly in line makes you nervous you might want to stay away.

People really don't seem to get the volume thing. If you get in a tight spot, it seems logical to keep quiet, turn your head and hold your breath or breathe shallow so you aren't sucking in a lot around your mask.

Yeah it’s kind of disheartening when so many are doing the right thing to see a few flaunting it. Teens I can almost forgive because I have one and he can’t remember anything he was asked to do 5 minutes ago. But grown men (and exclusively men based on my observations today) my age...

How do they look today? Mostly snow still?
I’m going to guess that terrain is limited. We didn’t lose all of our natural snow, but for some reason West (I have heard both lack of staff/storm took them by surprise & a groomer broke) wasn’t able to get the entire mountain open. They are blowing snow on the face/frolic etc right now). Check the website, but I’d expect Holy Mackerel, Frolic and Gnarwal, Face to be open with maybe a few of the other cutover trails.
