Tremblant Conditions

Doesn't seem to be a thread so starting one...

Drove up from Syracuse last night. No issues. Woke up to 6" this morning with it still snowing hard. Got to north side at 8:10 and on lift at 8:20. Expo was only lift running on the entire mountain due to the wind and thanks to fresh tracks everything was tracked out on that pod already but nice chowder turns on Cossack and La Griffe. Lowell Thomas opened up at 9 and hit Archibel Bas and Haut. Fresh tracks abounded. Went up and saw a bunch of people ducking the rope on Taiga glades and followed them in. Pure bliss and all fresh. Not sure why it wasn't open. Rest of the day was hunting glades and snow all over. Unfortunately huge lines showed up around 11 but I got a lot of skiing in before then. Still got a bunch in despite it. ROTDs were Taiga, Buzz, Archibel Bas and Haut, Expo, and whatever the name of the two narrow bump runs are off the top on the north side. Runner up Windogo and Les Rapides. Also got a bonus powder run at 3 as they opened up the Le Soleil side from the wind hold and got fresh tracks down Laurentienne.

Snowed hard all day. Picked up at least another 4" by time my legs were cooked at 3:30. Still snowing hard and no changeover to rain. Tomorrow is going to be a good round 2.

Very happy with my second annual trip to Tremblant and funny how it's the same situation as last year with a rainstorm down south and dump up here.

Day 2 of my MLK weekend jaunt up here. I didn't think today would be better than yesterday but boy was I wrong. Picked up 6" of blower last night and another 4" throughout the day today. Turned into an epic day despite the long lift lines. Seriously one of the best east coast powder days I've ever had and I have had a few. On par with my Rockies and Sierra powder days too. Woods were loaded, covered, and perfect. Even with the lines my legs were smoked by 3:15 despite the lifts staying open until 3:30. Given I was on the lift at 8:20 (10 minutes before official opening) I'll take it

ROTDs were Taiga which was now "officially" open and Dynagriffe. Pics are from those trails exclusively. Everything skiied incredible though and looking forward to one last go at it tomorrow even if it's a shorter day to accommodate driving home.

I spent a MLK weekend up there not long ago, the air temp today at the base of nord that weekend was -30.

Short but great last day to round out the trip. Put in at the south base due to shorter drive home. Did a run on Le Soleil to start and huge mistake. The snowmaking was so intense you literally could not see anything. I knew Tremblant was famous for this but didn't see the guns on the run I went down due to it snowing lightly when I got there (btw they got another 2-3 inches of fluff overnight). Next run did a run down McCoullough since it's a great steep groomer on the south side and same problem although they weren't actually making snow on it. After that the Edge was opening so headed over there and stayed there the rest of the day until 1230.

Coverage on the Edge was best I have ever skiied. Very few rocks even on Haute Tension, Emotion, and Sensation Haut. All pretty steep runs that are all natural snow. Also it was a complete snowglobe. The trees felt like skiing Steamboat with conditions to match. That's saying something. All the pics are from the Edge.

As a final run had to go down the south side to get to the car and got to ski the very seldom open Ryan Bas. A narrow all natural double diamond. Was a little thin but fun! Not a double diamond in my book but eh I get why it is rated that way with it being pretty narrow. Felt like you were in the middle of nowhere on it as it goes out a long way from other runs and is by itself.

Overall a absolutely spectacular trip. Best conditions I have skiied Tremblant in by far and rank very highly for east coast conditions and coverage on natural snow trails in general. I would put this trip in a top 10 list for east coast skiing and I've done a lot of trips. Back to the reality of living south of the border and coming home to a green lawn here in Syracuse...
