The NY Ski Directory was something I did originally for my own amusement, but interest in it seems to be growing. From Sept 1 through yesterday page views are up 140% from roughly 4,000 to 11,000 vs last year:

It's a bit of a mishmosh of things including some ski memorabilia, some historical stuff I wrote, a collection of aerial photos and some historical weather data. But at it's core, the original idea was to have a profile of every ski area in New York. I thought, if I did a profile of each area, I'd know more about skiing in NY.

The ski area profile section is a work in progress. Some ski areas don't have profiles yet, mostly because I don't know much about western NY. In some cases, I've enlisted people to help me write them.

This year, while continuing to work on the profiles, I decided to add a new section to each ski area called the Ski Day Checklist. At the bottom of each profile I'm working to add links to data that could help you on a day when you are setting out to ski that area.

I've only completed a few of them, but here is the general config, for the Whiteface listing. It includes the address, a "click-to-call" phone number for the mtn, a link to the Google Maps location (to give two click directions), a link to the relevant NYSB weather page, a link to the NWS point forecast, a link to the conditions report, a link to the webcam, and a link to the new addition to almost every site, how to ski the place in the age of covid.

I'm telling you all this because I'm hoping that it's useful (for more than me) and if you have any input on how to improve it, I'm open to it.

We also have a Vermont section in the directory, but unlike NY, it doesn't include all the VT areas, just my favorites. I will likely add this functionality to that section when I am done with all 40 NY areas.

Other mountains beside Whiteface that are relatively complete include Gore, Snow Ridge, McCauley, Plattekill and Hunter. (Funny thing about that, all places I hope to ski this year haha).

Anyway check it out, with the link on your desktop, and especially on your phone. Be interested to hear your feedback.

The only word that comes to mind is Exceptional. I had browsed the directory in the past, and found it quite impressive... this is even better. (y)

Robert did great writeups on several of the Western NY ski areas-not much to add there.

Wow thank you, CD.

JV - Robert is working on some others too. Are you from Western NY? Could use help with:

Peek'n Peak
Cockaigne
Buffalo Ski Club
Kissing Bridge
Hunt Hollow

I'm in Rochester and Bristol is my home hill. The only one of those I've skied is Hunt Hollow, and I'm usually there for one race a year. At those, we usually stick to just a couple of slopes, so it's been a long time since I've skied much of the hill.

If there is a place to do it, I'll be happy to report on Bristol regularly. Looks like that is where we will be spending most of our ski time this year.

You could do a separate Trip Report, or post in Bristol Conditions thread (you can start it or I can or anybody can).

Love to see you mix it up. A pic or two in Conditions most of the time, post a TR when it's notable for some reason... like new snow or whatever.
