WACHUSETT GIVES SOME CLARITY AND SHOWS INNOVATION

This is a great article as they really lay out some of their plans, though they are not set in stone just yet. Capacity limits will definitely affect Wachusett, but most notable in this is a plan to split the former two daily sessions into 4 daily sessions. That would likely mean 4-hour sessions beginning at 8 a.m., 12 p.m., 4 p.m., and 8 p.m., or thereabouts. People would only be allowed to do one session per day. This would effectively double their capacity for skiers and riders over 2 daily sessions. They are in a unique position to do this given that they have over 90% of their terrain lit for night skiing, with only Jiminy Peak in New England offering about the same amount of night skiing terrain.

Some other notable tidbits are as follow:

Season pass sales might be cut off considerably earlier than in previous seasons.

50% capacity limits sound the most likely, along with empty seats on chairlifts between dissimilar riders.

Reservations for all skiers and riders are clearly being considered with a preference for passholders.

They expect more weekday traffic than typically.

Things like rental equipment may have some operations moved outside.

Ski schools might focus on individual or family lessons and eliminate group lessons.

This should be expected to some degree by all passholders. One of the reasons why I believe it is a good practice to have a no-questions-asked refund period lasting at least until the start of the season is so that those who are significantly impacted will have a choice to aband
