It was a very exciting day at Royal today as the new Bunny Runner conveyor lift had its first day in service. It passed inspection on Thursday, and after a few early morning adjustments, started taking skiers and boarders up the middle third of the practice slope just after opening time.

Here are a few pictures and videos from the snowsports school clinic before opening time this morning where we got to check it out.

It's a huge addition for our snowsports school. Royal has always been a great place to learn, but it's a challenge to deal with the steepest part of the practice slope after beginners make their first run all the way down and back up the chair. Sometimes we have to resort to side slipping or even taking off the skis and walking down the steepest part. But now we can really make sure our students are ready without nearly as much walking/sidestepping up to practice.

After recovering from knee surgery I skied Royal to get my groove back. Great place great people!

Can see the pics but not the videos.

Was just at Timberline in WV. The little magic carpet for beginners was the perfect place for my friend to start to understand how to stop quickly with a hockey stop instead. She's an older cautious advanced beginner who tends to worry and overthink technique.

Having learned to ski on straight skis in the Adirondacks long ago, I know exactly how steep a "beginner slope" can be. :)

If I have the opportunity to teach my granddaughter to ski this is where we'll start.
