Here is the ski slope for Rocking Horse Ranch (looks to be about 2 acres) That is a magic carpet to the right. Brochures talk about a tow rope, but I didn't see one. They have a "guarantee to ski" promise for learning. To deal with this massive ski area, they use not one, but two Piston Bullys! RHR is a rather expensive resort using the "everything included" method, (meals, room, activities). The food is awesome (maybe something to do with being near that chef training place in Hyde Park). Lots of activities, probably geared for preteen, but I had lots of fun. I now know I can do flips on a bouncy pad/bungee cord setup. Its not Disney, much more homey. Founded in 1958 and still a lot like early Catskill resorts were.

What brought you there?

I think we should include it here:

Anyone willing to write it up?

Here's an example:

I’ve actually been there. They have magic carpet for a short beginner slope and another for the too steep for beginners slope. Lots of activities including horseback riding and a zoo for little kids. A little spendy but extremely efficient way to tire your kids out by 7pm.
mm

I was there for a couple days- family vacation- did most of the stuff, ate lot of the food. Never been in winter.

Two pisten bullies for that slope seems like overkill. Maybe one is a back up.

Also looks they they blow their snow deep, look at the height on that magic carpet.

They have a ski slope.

I went down it. It serves as a fun activity for pre-teen kids who ski during a winter birthday party. We also swam in the indoor “water park”.

Enjoyable for pre-teens and new skiers, or as a place to teach your kids on a fun local getaway with lots of activities. It’s not even in the same ballpark (ok, sandlot) as a Mt. Peter, but it doesn’t pretend to be. Don’t go for the skiing, but it’s a plus activity for a place with lots of activities.

Not sure my mostly all adults family would ever do the place now, but it’s a nice place for a quick getaway. The other area all inclusive that is better for the adult set is Mohonk. Double the price but much nicer accommodations, better food, without all the mostly cheesy kid oriented activity.
